About the Author

Morgan DePue is a neurodivergent poet and folk artist with deep West Virginian roots. She spent her early twenties performing poetry outreach work and readings around North Carolina, developing a reputation in the community for her impassioned readings. She won the NC Poetry Society’s 2017 Sherry Pruitt Prize for her pantoum “Continuum: A River Prayer.” Morgan’s publications appear in FERAL Poetry, Had I A Dove: Appalachian Poets on the Helene Flood, Salvation South, and Women Speak, among other fine journals and anthologies. She now lives with her partner in Ashe County, NC, and teaches at Appalachian State University. When not writing or teaching, she can be found wading in rivers, wandering hills, and wrangling her small menagerie of cats.

Long overdue and wholly unforgettable, Morgan DePue’s debut collection blends Beatnik urgency with prophetic tenderness. Woven from shoe‑pebbles, stale beer, and starlight, these raw, luminous poems pry open the ordinary to reveal mercy, community, and a stubborn hope. Read aloud when you can—DePue’s voice turns page into pulse. For readers who crave poetry that is both unflinching and quietly hopeful.
